Preparations for a Party

I´m working on preparations for a Birthday Party
It´s actually my Birthday Party.

I had the big 5.0. birthday in January
January 1th in fact - and who wants to go to a party on January 1th
Not any I know - not me either
so I decided to have the party in March instead

I have to tell you this is a big deal for me,
being a very private person and a homebuddy, I´m not much for parties.
Last time I held a party was when I turned 30
I haven´t had a birthday party in 20 years
so you see.... this really is a big deal
and I´m kind of scared and close to regret too
as the party is getting closer - it´s on saturday - uurrggh :-)

I´m enjoying the preparations though
No one in my family reads here, so I´m going to show you
what I have been working on

these are for the name cards.
Little salt and pepper shakers - customized for every guest.
I´ve found some vintage images symbolising something personal
for each of my guest - something they like to do or have as a hobby.
I won´t tell anybody, so I´m excited to see if someone will notice

these pages are old magasin pages from a weekly Danish Magazin
called Ude og Hjemme. They are from 1879-1880.
I´m going to place them as place mates
under each plate - if the conversation goes slowly
we can always talk about what happened in 1880.

These are going to be next to every plate.
It´s the menu.
I´m going to have the food delivered so we - hubby and I,
don´t have to do all the cooking ourself.
It´s a buffet - hopefully it´ll be good.
At least there´ll be great wine - we bought that :-)

Here´s the menu inside.

The table cloth and napkins are cream collored
and I´m going to place all my silver candle holders
along the middle of the table with white candle in.

I hope it´s going to be a great looking table.
I hope the party will be a great one too.
Wish me luck and send some steady nerves my way.

Wishing you all a wonderful and calm day

Tina ♥♥♥

Hi Tina,

That looks like the makings of a wonderful party! You seem like the creative type of person who enjoys the getting ready and the making of things more than the actual party itself. I'd love to see all you are up to in person. I am sure your guests will love all you have done. Have a great party and happy March birthday!

Good Morning Tina Sweetie...
Oh my gosh, what a beautiful party you are going to have. Happy 50th Sweetie.

You have done the most amazing job on your decorations. (So inspired me to create.) I love the use of the salt and pepper shakers. I saw some fishing and skiing going on there. I love the use of the pages for the placemats as well. How simply delightful and fun is that. I would love dining at a table with such creativity. You have not missed a beat dear one.

The menus are the cutest darn thing I have ever seen. You did a fabulous job and I tickled that you are catering so that you can enjoy this special day yourself.

Please take pictures of your table as I cannot wait to see everything in its place. I am so clapping for you sweetie. Stand up and take a bow for a job well done.

Have a beautiful and wonderful memory filled birthday. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

Wow your guests are really going to be treated with beauty. I would love to go to a party where so much thought has gone into the details.

Enjoy your party, 50 is a big deal, now you won't have to do it again till your 75.

Wishing you a fabulous birthday celebration! Wish I could be a fly on the wall as this sounds like it will be SUCH a fabulous party!! Your note about the Danish magazine caught my attention as my grandmother came over (alone at age 13) on a boat from Denmark to America in the late 1890s.

Tina these are absolutely wonderful ideas and I want to have a party now just to use them myself! Maybe this Christmas I can borrow these ideas? I just love the salt shaker personalization and the menus are fab! Happy Birthday belated but in time for your celebrations! It is my 45th this year and this past weekend hubby just turned 40... it's a good year for landmark birthdays! Thanks for sharing these wonderful ideas!

Relax, 50 is the new 30 don't you know. I'm now closer to 60 than 50 now and that's starting to get a little scary. LOVE LOVE LOVE your placecard holders as well as the menus, and the food sounds fabulous. The table will look amazing and elegant. What could be better than good friends and good food. I'm sure you and your guests will have a very enjoyable time and will make for some very fond memories. Happy Birthday, Warm Hugs,

Belated happy birthday party wishes dear Tina! It all looks wonderful! Love the creative place card holders and menu cards. So you made it already to the big 5.0. I'm still thinking about what I'll do on my 50th which is next January, luckily at the end of the month, not on the first, but not such a nice day for a party either in the cold winter. Maybe I'll be celebrating 6 months later in Summer with a garden party lol
